BoxerFest 2017

Posted by

No more than 3 weeks ago, us here at MACA went to FedEx Field, in Landover, Maryland. Why? BoxerFest, of course! When we first set off, we had no idea what we were going to get ourselves into, and boy, it was something.

All of us at MACA acquired tickets that let us see the show an hour before opening time. However, it seemed as if everyone who was going got the same pass, as there were hundreds of Subaru’s lined up waiting to go into the show. Everything from old Outbacks to brand new WRX STi’s are around us. Conveniently so, a 2013 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited was what I drove. I felt as if I blended among all of the Japanese boxers I was surrounded by.

Right after you get your tickets checked, there was the “main attraction” so to speak.

These cars included Petter Solberg’s famous WRC 2006 Subaru,

the rare, Japan-Only Subaru Impreza S202 STi,

the brand-new 2018 Subaru BRZ tS,

the tS’ partner-in-crime; the 2018 Subaru WRX STi Type RA, and last but not least,

David Higgins’ extraordinary Rally-Spec WRX STi. Note: This is not our image.

After the incredible main showcase, there were rows upon rows of modded Subaru’s parked to be shown-off as well as many tuning companies like COBB and BilletWorkz. There wasn’t only one type of car on showcase either. There were lifted Forester’s to bagged STi’s.

Some of our favorite cars from the show comprised of an amazing widebody white WRX STi,

a yellow Impreza WRX STi with aero and green headlights,

and a widebody formula red BRZ with an enormous wing.

However, there was one car that towered out among the rest, which was an RB26DETT swapped hatchback Impreza WRX STi by BilletWorkz.

In conclusion, this meeting of people, this meeting of ideas and creations, this social gathering of people from all ethnicities, races and backgrounds were conjoined together by one simple yet extraordinary machine; the Subaru.
